Meeting with Plataforma de Infancia Spain
Meeting with Ricardo Ibarra on child poverty, inequality and the protection of children’s and adolescents’ rights.
On 3 September 2026, the Special Rapporteur met with Ricardo Ibarra, Director of Plataforma de Infancia Spain, to discuss the situation of children and adolescents living in contexts of poverty and vulnerability.
The conversation focused on the challenges of ensuring the full enjoyment of their rights, with particular attention to social inequalities, protection from exclusion and effective access to essential services and benefits.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on public policies and measures needed to strengthen the protection of children and adolescents in situations of greatest vulnerability, highlighting the importance of a human rights-based approach and stronger coordination between public institutions and civil society organisations.
